======Warp====== //example image tbd// =====Description===== A warp is a special kind of patterns:portal and trigger which sends the player characters who trigger it to a location on another patterns:map (often through a loading zone). The physical form of a warp depends on it's context. For instance, a warp which puts the player characters on the inside of a house would likely have the form of a door on the outside of the house. =====Variables and Affordances===== * **Type**: the physical form that the warp takes * **Connections**: locations that the warp connects between * **Party Limit**: whether all characters must be warped or if just one may go =====Examples===== * Dragon Age II. At the end of Act I, when the player finishes the dialogue with Bartrand and other characters after acquiring 50 gold, the player characters chosen are warped to the patterns:map for the Deep Roads Expidition. * Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. Whenever a player reaches the edge of a patterns:map that is part of the world map, it takes them to the world map, opens a new area if they have not been that way before, and allows them to warp to any patterns:map location on the world map. All party members are required to be together. * Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. While rescuing Haer'Dalis from the Planar Prison, there are a number of warps that automatically trigger transporting a character from the main map area to a hidden area with other monsters and loot. Only the character standing on top of the warp is transported to this location. Since transportation can occur during combat, the placement of these warp points influence the combat strategy, as the player can only see one map area at a time. ==== In Worked Examples ==== * Collect the fee for Gaelan Bayle * A Rat Problem =====Related Patterns===== * Map * Trigger * Portal =====Quest-Level Relationships===== * Move Action
