======Fetch Objective====== //image tbd// =====Description===== A fetch quest is a quest with an objective involving the collection of a said quota of a specific (and typically generic) patterns:item. However these quests can focus on a single, important item as well, although the overall structure remains unchanged. Fetch quests are some of the most generic motivators to get players out and doing things within the game. By being sent to actually collect an understandable amount of a good, the player has a clear objective which they can use their abilities to complete. In quests with a Fetch Objective, its not necessarily the objective that's interesting, but the means by which the objective can be achieved. =====Variables and Affordances===== * patterns:item that needs to be fetched * Amount of Item that needs to be fetched * Sources from which the patterns:item may be collected. Some possible sources are: * NPCs - The NPC must be talked to, stolen from, killed, etc. * Enemies - A certain enemy drops the patterns:item when killed. * Containers - The item(s) may lay in containers. * Ground - The item(s) may simply be laying about. =====Examples===== * Wolves Across The Border quest in the human starting area in World of Warcraft, where the player is asked to kill wolves in the starting area and collect their tough meat. ====In Worked Examples==== * Desertgate =====Related Patterns===== * Kill Action * Moxie Action * Item * Container
