Storage Room
Fallout 3, a storage room.
Description
A storage room is a small room aside from the main flow of a level. A portal separates it from the rest of the level. Inside are usually numerous items laying about or containers full of items. There are usually no enemies inside of a storage room, but the containers may be locked and/or trapped. The portal itself to the storage room is often locked and/or trapped. Sometimes, a storage room will contain an important quest-related item.
Variables and Affordances
* **Size**: size of the room in terms of number of items and containers
* **Risk**: risk associated with retrieving the items in terms of traps or locks
Examples
* Fallout 3. Storage rooms are located everywhere throughout the game, usually with shelves on either side full of weapons, ammo, and junk. There is usually a medical kit container on the wall full of stimpaks, and sometimes there is a safe which is locked and full of more valuable items.
* Dragon Age: Origins. In Redcliff Castle, there is an armory which you must have a thief with high enough lock picking to get into. The armory is a storage room.
